The body of a young woman who was bound at the hands and feet was found stuffed inside a suitcase in ritzy Greenwich, Connecticut, police said.
The grisly discovery was made by highway workers along Glenville Road near Stillman Lane around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Greenwich Time newspaper.
Police said the woman appears to be between 18 and 30 years old.
“There was no doubt homicide was involved,” said Greenwich police Capt. Robert Berry at a press conference Tuesday in the affluent Glenville neighborhood.
But he was mum on other details about the victim.
“We have received some leads, on some, I would say, possible identifications of the victim,” he said. “But at this time, nothing is confirmed. So I have no information to release identifying the victim. We are following up on leads.”
Police don’t believe the woman was killed on Glenville Road, though they’re unsure where exactly she died. They are working on identifying the woman and locating next of kin.
The suitcase was located on the east side in a wooded section about 10 to 15 feet from the winding road. It was out of sight of the multimillion-dollar residences in the area.
An autopsy will be performed.
