Police busted the man who snatched a retired cop’s gun while she was using a public bathroom at an upscale Manhattan food hall last month, but are still searching for the pistol, law enforcement sources told The Post.
Duwayne Chance, 48, was busted Wednesday afternoon on a grand larceny charge for allegedly swiping retired NYPD officer Kim Sciarrino’s gun on Jan. 23, police and law enforcement sources said.
Sciarrino, also 48, was using the bathroom inside Urbanspace@Vanderbilt in Midtown when Chance allegedly reached into her stall and grabbed her .380-caliber Ruger LCP pistol, sources said at the time.
Investigators used surveillance footage from inside the food hall to determine Chance was in the bathroom for more than two hours before leaving with the gun, according to a different source.
Police are still looking for the stolen firearm, the source said.
He was charged with two additional counts of grand larceny for allegedly taking items from other women inside the Urbanspace bathroom on separate occasions.
Chance stole a wallet from a 53-year-old’s purse around 1 p.m. Dec. 28. Then, on the afternoon of Jan. 19, he took a handbag belonging to a 57-year-old woman, police said.
