A young woman was killed when a fire tore through a Staten Island home early Thursday, officials said.
The blaze erupted around 5:50 a.m. on the first floor of the two-story home on Hatfield Place in the borough’s Elm Park neighborhood, authorities said.
Sixty firefighters responded to the inferno and found the 21-year-old victim.
Medics rushed the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition, but she could not be saved.
Five firefighters suffered minor injuries as a result of the blaze, which was brought under control by 7 a.m., officials said.
