A female inmate who sued the city, saying she was raped by two Rikers Island jail guards, won a $500,000 settlement, according to court documents.
The woman — who filed the suit anonymously in August — claimed in her Manhattan federal lawsuit that Correction Officer Leonard McNeil raped her repeatedly in 2015 while she was awaiting trial.
Then McNeil allegedly helped another correction officer, José Cosme, rape her after Cosme threatened to expose McNeil.
Cosme pleaded guilty in June 2017 to criminal sex act, for which he was sentenced to 10 years’ probation and was required to register as a sex offender.
