Sen. Cory Booker wants to wage war on . . . meat and dairy.
The longtime vegan told VegNews, “We’ve seen this massive increase in consumption of meat produced by the industrial animal agriculture industry. The tragic reality is this planet simply can’t sustain billions of people consuming industrially produced animal agriculture.”
Bull. When they can afford it, people eat meat because they like it. It was only the dawn of agriculture that led homo sapiens to high-carb diets — and brought average health and life expectancy down.
The shift back to diets heavy in meat, thanks to economic and scientific progress, has come with longer lives — even as nations whose economies advance also see falling birth rates.
And, yes, technology can handle the environmental impact of “the industrial animal agriculture industry.”
Booker vows to keep on “fighting against” these Big Food “corporate interests.” It’ll be fun seeing him campaign against meat (and cheese!) in states like Iowa and Wisconsin.
