Prince has returned — to Twitter.
A new social media account for the singer, who died in 2016, has been launched by his estate. Using the handle @Prince, the classy tweets are meant to celebrate the “Purple Rain” musician’s legacy.
Already the account is more restrained than Prince’s past Twitter presence. The first few posts include his famous quotes — “I wasn’t being deliberately provocative. I was being deliberately me” — paired with pictures. Another features praise from President Barack Obama.
For a short time while Prince was alive, he took control of his official Twitter account, @3rdeyegirl, from his management, and cranked out much kookier content.
One of the singer’s tweets in 2013 showed a photo of an over-seasoned plate of salad with the message, “PRINCE’S 3RD TWEET: DID EYE ADD 2 MUCH PEPPER?”
