The upcoming trial of the faux heiress who swindled her way into New York’s social scene could feature more than two dozen witnesses, according to prosecutors.
Anna Sorokin, 28, sashayed into Manhattan Supreme Court Monday in prison-issue beige sweats and stylish black-rimmed glasses for a brief pretrial hearing.
Her hair freshly brushed, she pouted her lips and batted her eyes for news photographers.
Assistant District Attorney Catherine McCaw said that the prosecution intends to call between 20 and 25 witnesses for the hotly anticipated grand-larceny trial.
Sorokin, who goes by the alias Anna Delvey, allegedly posed as a German heiress with a $60 million fortune to swindle thousands of dollars from banks, businesses and wealthy pals.
Netflix has tapped “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes to write a series based on the wannabe socialite’s elaborate fraud. Her trial is slated to begin March 20.
“Ms. Sorokin is presumed innocent and never intended to commit a larceny,” said attorney Todd Spodek.
