Police have nabbed the suspect in the fatal shooting of a Bronx woman in the face following a dispute at a bodega more than a year ago, authorities said Wednesday.
The NYPD’s Violent Felony Squad arrested 25-year-old Amere Bryant late Tuesday in Valley Stream, in Nassau County, and charged him with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a loaded firearm for the January 2018 fatal shooting of Shaquana Button.
An argument between Bryant and Button, 36, began inside the Candy and Grocery 24-hour bodega on East 149th Street in Mott Haven on Jan. 15 and spilled onto the sidewalk out front, where Bryant flashed a gun and shot Button in the face before running off.
Button, who lived just over half a mile from where she was shot, was pronounced dead at the scene. Relatives told The Post she died “the same way” and at the same age as her mother, who was shot in the head in 2000.
Bryant, who is homeless, was identified as a suspect only days later.
He was due to appear in court Wednesday.
