President Trump has wrapped up the first day of a two-day summit with North Korea leader Kim Jong Un that included a closed-door meeting and dinner with guests.
Trump departed from the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes after meeting Kim for a second time in less than a year.
Asked by a reporter whether he planned to declare an end to the Korean War, Trump said, “We’ll see,” according to CNN.
Trump was in good spirits as the two sat down for dinner — flanked by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, as well as Kim Yong Chol, vice chairman of the Worker’s Party of Korea, and minister of foreign affairs Ri Yong Ho.
“Boy, if you could’ve heard that dialogue,” he quipped about the one-on-one meeting, while lightly touching Kim’s elbow. “What you would pay for that dialogue. It was good.”
The two leaders will meet again Thursday morning before Trump returns home to the US.
