Air Force major bought ax and ‘burn barrel’ after wife went missing: cops

An Air Force major has been arrested on charges of evidence tampering in the investigation of the disappearance of his wife.

Andreen McDonald, 29, was reported missing when she didn’t show up for work at an assisted living facility on March 1st, the Bexar County Sheriff’s office said.

Investigators executed a search warrant on her home where they found a shovel, an ax, work gloves, drums of gasoline, and a “burn barrel,” the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

McDonald’s husband, Andre, who works for the U.S. Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base, was attempting to destroy the receipt for the items.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said that the investigation quickly escalated into a missing person’s case over “troubling circumstances.”

Salazar said friends of Andreen were concerned when her husband would not say much about his wife’s whereabouts when she did not show up to the gym or her job.

A friend of Andreen told her many times if she ever went missing it would be because her husband killed her, according to an affidavit obtained by My San Antonio.

Authorities currently have possession of Andreen’s purse, wallet, keys and all her forms of identification with the exception to her passport.

“I love my daughter. I love my family. That’s it,” McDonald said to deputies as he was led away at the Bexar County Justice Intake Center, according to My San Antonio.

Salazar said authorities have found new blood evidence at McDonald’s home that they are looking into. Both the FBI and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations are helping local authorities with the investigation.

“We believe that Andreen McDonald is no longer living,” Salazar said.

Deputies have been searching wooded areas in north Bexar County for her.

The McDonalds have a 6-year-old daughter with autism who is currently in the custody of a relative.
