A New York City cab driver is dead after apparently suffering a medical episode and crashing into a pole in Brooklyn Sunday night, according to cops.
The unidentified 62-year old cabby was behind the wheel of his Ford Escape when he crashed into a light pole at East 15th Street and King’s Highway shortly after 11 p.m., according to sources.
He was transported by paramedics to New York Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
No pedestrians were struck on the sidewalk, according to police.
It’s unclear if the driver died from the effects of the crash for from a medical condition that he apparently suffered, law enforcement sources said. It was also unclear what factor, if any, the weather may have played on the snowy night.
The NYPD Highway Unit’s Collision Investigations Squad will determination the cause of the crash.
