The tale of Bre Tiesi-Manziel’s half marathon time has taken an interesting turn.
After Johnny Manziel’s wife took to social media last week, defending her time in last month’s Divas Half Marathon in Temecula, Calif., amid allegations she had cut corners in the race, a pacesetter shared his account of the event with Deadspin.
“I was one of the 2:00 pacers on the course. As such I was able to see who was ahead of me on the turnarounds of the course,” he told the website. “These two ladies were dressed to impress and hard to miss in their flaming pink outfits.”
According to the split at least, Tiesi-Manziel finished the race at around the two-hour mark. Marathon Investigation noted that the course had been altered due to weather conditions — and Tiesi-Manziel may have taken advantage.
“My co-pacer and I saw them turn in front of us when we were at the 12 mile mark. At that point they should have gone around for the second loop but they didn’t. They turned left and ran the last two miles instead,” the pacesetter explained.
Tiesi-Manziel’s split for Mile 11 is not indicated on the race’s timing guide.
The pacesetter also noted that “if they had run close to two hours they would have been right alongside of my co-pacer and me for the entire run. Afterwards I saw them taking selfies and photos at the winery, and they were definitely looking too good to have just run 13.1 miles!”
Following the race, Tiesi-Manziel uploaded a photo of herself on Instagram, holding a glass of wine in bright pink gear. The comments to the post are currently disabled.
“We had so much fun and loved supporting @runlikeadiva in support of #breastcancerawareness im so proud of us @khloe 💕 @summerinjune_ @miss.renaexo,” she captioned the image.
In response to the controversy, Tiesi-Manziel previously shared a screenshot from an online search about how long it takes a person to complete a half marathon, which is between 1:30 and 2:00.
