Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took a for-hire vehicle to open her first district office in Queens on Monday — and kept up her sarcastic Twitter campaign against The Post for exposing how she avoids using mass transit to get around town while preaching green initiatives.
“I need to admit something to you all. Frankly, I don’t know how my environmental reputation can recover,” she tweeted.
“Today… I wrote in a book… made out of PAPER. Apparently using present technology means I can’t fight for new jobs, investing in infrastructure, & renewable energy.”
Ocasio-Cortez, her boyfriend, Riley Roberts, and a male aide walked up to the Jackson Heights building where her new office is located (and where she’s pictured above holding a toy bus from the Showtime talk show “Desus & Mero”). But her spokesman later admitted that the Green New Deal proponent actually used a Lyft ride to get there from her home in The Bronx.
During a subsequent news conference, Ocasio-Cortez refused to call on The Post, and even ignored shouted questions from rival reporters about The Post’s revelation that her campaign spent nearly $30,000 on 1,000-plus rides in for-hire vehicles.
