Paige ‘appalled’ by film critic for body-shaming biopic actress

WWE star Paige clapped back at a film critic for body-shaming actress Florence Pugh, who plays the wrestler in the newly released biopic, “Fighting with My Family.”

Following a review published in the Evening Standard, which made note of Pugh’s performance and physical appearance, stating, “Her character is based on real-world WWE champion Paige, whose legs are significantly slimmer,” the 23-year-old film star took to Twitter on Saturday to address the remarks.

“Oh dear. Singling out my ‘chunky’ thighs doesn’t help normalizing an ‘all shape&size’ Hollywood. In fact that’s part of the problem. I do hope people take more away from the film than the circumference of my hams. ⁦@EveningStandard⁩,” Pugh tweeted.

Paige, 26, whose real name is Saraya-Jade Bevis, took notice of Pugh’s post, writing, “Wow I’m actually appalled [by] this,” to her quote-retweet of the actress.

While the Evening Standard’s review remains online, it has been ravaged by fans over the context.

“One of those moments where I’m ashamed to be British this ‘reviewer’ has no idea what she’s spouting,” one user tweeted.

“Body shaming’s just ridiculous (doesn’t matter who’s doing it),” wrote another.

“Yikes … that was infuriating to read … then she points out that your legs are ‘significantly slimmer’ as if it’s a competition …? How about let the actors do the fantastic job they do at portraying the characters they’re hired for and admire their skill and not comparing bodies,” posted one fan.

“Fighting with my Family” follows Paige’s journey as she pursues her wrestling career. The film has grossed over $14 million domestically.
