Pedestrian run over, killed by MTA bus in Queens

An MTA bus fatally struck a pedestrian early Monday in Queens, dragging him for several feet before the driver realized there was a man caught up in the wheels, authorities said.

The 55-year-old driver of the westbound Q33 bus was turning from Roosevelt Avenue onto 75th Street at around 2:50 a.m. when he struck the victim in the Jackson Heights intersection, cops said.

The driver, whose name wasn’t released, kept going for several feet before he realized he’d hit a man, police said.

“He was alerted that there was someone dragging under his wheels,” a police source said.

The driver then pulled over and first responders rushed to the scene to free the man.

Despite rescuers’ efforts, he was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Medical Center.

The victim carried no identification, and cops were unable to provide name him as of late Monday.

The accident occurred as heavy, wet snow slicked city streets, although investigators were unable to say if the precipitation played a role.

The driver was not charged.
