Case Keenum’s time as a starting quarterback is over with the Broncos, but it looks like he could get a shot to be the guy with the Redskins.
After the Broncos landed Joe Flacco in a trade last month, Keenum was put on the trading block, and it appears he’s close to heading to the nation’s capital, according to multiple reports.
The two teams have agreed on the parameters of a trade, according to NFL Network, for the 31-year-old quarterback, who signed a two-year, $36 million deal last March with the Broncos to be their starting quarterback.
The Broncos will get the Redskins’ sixth-round pick in 2020 and the Redskins will get the Broncos’ seventh-rounder in the same year, 9News in Denver reported. The Broncos will pay $3.5 million of Keenum’s remaining salary and a $500K bonus for restructuring the contract. The Redskins are on the hook for $3.5 million.
Keenum’s first and only season in Denver didn’t go well. The team went 6-10, and coach Vance Joseph was fired and replaced by Vic Fangio this offseason. With little help around him, Keenum threw for 3,890 yards, 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, tied for the second most in the league.
