A top Manhattan real-estate lawyer — who was caught on tape telling a tenant, “You’re my b—h” and, “I think you should commit suicide” — will have his law license suspended for four months and must go to counseling for a year, an appeals court ruled Tuesday.
Adam Leitman Bailey — whose clients have included Seagram’s heiress Sara Bronfman and fallen hedge-funder Ravi Yadav — was referred to the Attorney Grievance Committee in 2017 after he was recorded going on a tirade against James Dawson, a tenant of a building owned by a company that Bailey repped.
Bailey confronted Dawson for allegedly making a Web site devoted to trashing the building owner. The lawyer cussed out Dawson and told him to kill himself, according to the recorded phone call.
The First-Department Court of Appeals noted that Bailey had “twice previously been admonished by the AGC for inappropriate litigation behavior.”
Bailey’s lawyer, Michael Ross said, “Mr. Bailey is deeply apologetic for his unfortunate conduct in the matters that led to his suspension.”
