Signs warn fans of flying bats and balls, but T-shirts?
A Houston woman is suing the Astros for more than $1 million after their mascot, Orbit, allegedly used a T-shirt cannon to fire a shirt into the stands and broke the woman’s finger.
Jennifer Harughty filed the lawsuit Monday, stemming from the July 2018 game at Minute Maid Park, where she reportedly was sitting with her family in the lower deck up the third-base line.
“Orbit took aim and fired a T-shirt into the stands where Harughty and her family sat,” the lawsuit claims, according to the Houston Chronicle. “The T-shirt struck her left index finger head-on and with so much force Harughty’s finger fractured.”
Harughty needed two surgeries to fix her finger, the newspaper reported.
The lawsuit also claims the Astros were negligent in providing proper warning about the cannon and using reasonable care to fire off the shirts.
