Josh Rosen may have been the first one in the building Monday, but Tuesday, the Cardinals brought in the next No. 1.
Kyler Murray and his agent are in Arizona to meet with the Cardinals, ESPN reported, compounding an awkward situation for their current quarterback, Rosen.
Perhaps it’s due diligence or just further pushing a smokescreen for the team that owns the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. But it’s also possible the Cardinals want to get to know the Heisman Trophy winner even better before drafting him later this month, all while trying to trade Rosen as he dutifully reported for the organization’s offseason workout program Monday.
New Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury has been enamored with Murray in the past, ever since he recruited him to Texas A&M. Last fall, as the head coach at Texas Tech, Kingsbury said he would draft Murray if he had the No. 1 pick, which he conveniently does now.
Kingsbury has since tried to distance himself from those comments, saying, “Josh is our guy.” But that idea got harder to believe Tuesday with Murray making the trip to Arizona.
