NBA peers agree: Kevin Durant is coming to the Knicks

A noteworthy majority of NBA players polled agree Kevin Durant will soon be a member of the Knicks.

In an extensive survey carried out by The Athletic over the last month, 69 of 109 players canvassed (63.3 percent) believe the Knicks will land free agency’s most coveted prize come July. The Warriors finished a distant second at 20.2 percent with the Nets, Clippers and Thunder also getting votes.

Durant has long been rumored to be Knicks-bound, and team president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry only fanned the flames in a recent letter to season-ticket holders.

“We have created a tremendous amount of financial flexibility, which has put us in a position to potentially sign up to two max free agents,’’ the 279-word essay, obtained by The Post’s Marc Berman, read. “We will continue to focus on the draft in an attempt to replicate the type of players we added last summer. Most importantly, we will use our cap space diligently and only on players who believe in our plan and are committed to building the New York Knicks into the championship team that you deserve.”

The dream scenario would be pairing Durant with Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving, who is expected to opt out of his deal this offseason. Irving has been linked to the Knicks and speculation is rampant that he and Durant plan to team together somewhere next season.

The rumors around the two superstars and the Knicks have grown significantly since the stunning Kristaps Porzingis midseason blockbuster that opened up two max contract slots this offseason.

It seems Durant’s peers are convinced the Knicks’ master plan will finally work out.
