Red-carpet mainstay label Rodarte is getting more inclusive.
The high-fashion brand just launched a “size-inclusive” collaboration with Universal Standard.
Since it was founded in 2005 by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Rodarte has become known for its romantic designs, beloved by the likes of whimsy-loving It girls such as Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning.
This collab is a continuation of its signature feminine aesthetic, including a range of girly staples (from blouses and skirts to dresses) in a palette of black, white, red and rosy pink.
Relative newbie brand Universal Standard (which launched in 2015) has one of the largest size ranges in the industry, producing clothes from size 00 to 40.
“We believe size should be an irrelevant consideration for women when making fashion choices … we are taking a step toward giving more women access to designer clothing and we are thrilled to be further expanding our mission by collaborating with a high fashion brand,” co-founder Polina Veksler says of the capsule collection.
Considering that many luxury brands don’t offer plus sizes (even though the average American woman is a size 16), this collab is pretty revolutionary. The cherry on top? Designer threads, for a fraction of the price — everything retails within $150 and $240. Dreamy!
