Aaron Rodgers is keeping mum about where he stands with his former coach.
After the Packers quarterback was asked Wednesday about last week’s detailed Bleacher Report story, which highlights the alleged dysfunction between Rodgers and Mike McCarthy, the signal-caller refused to divulge whether or not he has spoken with McCarthy since the piece was published.
“I’m not going to answer that,” Rodgers said, according to Pro Football Talk.
Rodgers and McCarthy’s relationship has come under increased scrutiny in response to the story, which claims the quarterback has “had a chip on his shoulder with Mike” since McCarthy’s hiring in 2006.
Both have denied an alleged rift.
“I love Mike McCarthy. Mike has been a huge part of my success in my career,” Rodgers previously said to ESPN Milwaukee.
And while McCarthy said coaching Rodgers is “challenging,” he also told ESPN the duo had fun together during their run.
“Some of my greatest one-on-one conversations, accomplishments, adjustments and adversity we fought through have been with Aaron,” McCarthy said in an extensive interview with ESPN.
Rodgers has since shredded those who have contributed to the Bleacher Report piece, calling the report a “smear attack.”
“I stand by everything I said,” Rodgers stated Wednesday. “I’ve heard from 100-plus former teammates and coaches and current teammates and coaches, and that’s fun. Especially some of the guys you haven’t heard from in a while checking in and encouraging you.”
