Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno derided Julian Assange as a “spoiled brat” who hit embassy guards during his stay at the nation’s consulate in London, a report said Thursday.
“You can’t arrive at a house that welcomes you warmly, that gives you food, and takes care of you, and start to denounce the owner of the house,” Moreno said, according to Bloomberg. “We’ve removed the asylum for this spoiled brat and, fortunately, we’ve gotten rid of a thorn in our side.”
The WikiLeaks founder was dragged from the Ecuadorian embassy Thursday morning and subsequently arrested on UK and US warrants.
The US warrant was issued in December 2017 and is related to his alleged conspiracy with Chelsea Manning, a former Army intelligence analyst who leaked a slew of classified materials to WikiLeaks, Assange’s lawyer said.
The UK warrant is related to bail jumping in 2012, when he sought political asylum at the Ecuador embassy to avoid being extradited to Sweden, which was probing him on rape allegations.
