He was the green meanie of Broadway’s “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” and the Green Goblin of “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.” Now Patrick Page has gone to hell — as the overlord of the underworld in “Hadestown,” which just opened on Broadway. “I grew up in a very small town, went to college in a small town and started working in a theater in a small town,” says Page, 56, who felt “overwhelmed” when he arrived here, in 1993. No more: The longtime Upper West Sider tells The Post where you’ll likely find him and his wife, “Trading Spaces” host Paige Davis, on a nonworking weekend.
We have a maltipoo, Georgie. She’s an emotional support dog and goes with me everywhere, but she has a couple of idiosyncrasies that have to do with her refusing to act like a dog. We love to take a walk with her in Riverside Park. There’s an outdoor cafe at the Boat Basin where you can stop and have a Coke, and they allow dogs.
When I was in [Broadway’s 2014] “Casa Valentina,” I played a cross-dresser. I spent a lot of time in women’s clothing, and I had to have manicures and pedicures. I realized I was missing out on this whole wonderful, relaxing thing, so after the show closed, I kept going. Paige and I will go together to Oasis Nail and Spa and sit next to each other. Usually, while my toes are drying, I’ll have them massage my neck and shoulders. It’s really affordable, and they’re fantastic at it.
A lot of times, we see a movie at the theater on 84th and Broadway. They have reserved seating and the seats recline like Barcaloungers, so it’s really relaxing. You don’t have to fight for a seat, and you can sit next to each other, recline and hold hands. We also go to a new cabaret on 42nd Street, Green Room 42, at the Yotel. They have an app where you punch in what you want and they bring it to you immediately. We recently saw “Hadestown” co-stars Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada do a show there.
Our local haunt is an Italian restaurant called Regional, on Broadway. You know how they say on “Cheers,” a place where everyone knows your name? This restaurant is like our dining room. They have pastas every night, and you’re welcomed like a friend.
I’m always looking for a wonderful new suit, jacket or shoes at Century 21 on 66th Street. I found a Roda suit there for $100 that I’ve worn to openings, red carpets . . . I’m sure I’ve worn it over 100 times, so it’s more than paid for itself. And I can’t tell you all the fashionable people who ask me, “Who is it by?”
