Trump complained to Twitter CEO over losing followers

President Trump griped that Twitter is deleting his followers for much of his Tuesday meeting with company CEO Jack Dorsey, according to a report.

A good portion of the closed-door sit-down focused on Trump’s concern that the social media platform is tampering with his nearly 60 million followers, a source told the Washington Post.

The president told Twitter execs that he had heard the same from fellow conservatives, who lost followers for unclear reasons, according to the report.

In the 30-minute meeting, Dorsey explained that follower counts fluctuate as the company weeds out spam accounts.

The Twitter boss stressed that point, noting that even he had lost followers as the platform enforced its policies, according to the report.

Prior to the meeting, Trump fired off a couple of tweets repeating his charge that Twitter is “playing political games” and discriminating against him and other Republicans.

Twitter said in a statement that Trump and Dorsey discussed “Twitter’s commitment to protecting the health of the public conversation ahead of the 2020 U.S. elections and efforts underway to respond to the opioid crisis.”

The company said the meeting was “constructive.” The Washington Post source described it as cordial.
