The best friend of slain Queens jogger Karina Vetrano got hate-filled death threats on the very day Vetrano’s killer was sentenced for the murder, police sources said Wednesday.
The 33-year-old Manhattan woman told police she received a message on Instagram shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday — after sharing a post related to Vetrano’s killer, Chanel Lewis, who was sentenced to life in prison without parole earlier in the day for the 2016 rape and strangulation in Howard Beach.
“Bitch u got die next, gone die next,” user @mrvisa_1 wrote, according to the sources.
Police confirmed they were investigating the complaint and added that the user who made the threat also asked her, “What’s your location?”
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said the person who threatened her should be held responsible.
“You can’t make threats to people and you should be accountable if you do,” she said. “I”m not scared. This is New York City, I’ve got the finest police around me. I will not be a victim.”
She told police she knew neither the screen name nor the person who sent the message.
Lewis, 22, has denied killing Vetrano.
