Ashton Kutcher could be called to testify in the trial of a man nicknamed the “Hollywood Ripper,” who allegedly murdered the actor’s girlfriend nearly two decades ago.
Prosecutors say “serial sexual thrill killer” Michael Gargiulo — whose Los Angeles trial began Thursday — murdered 22-year-old Ashley Ellerin at her Hollywood Hills home in 2001.
Kutcher had been scheduled to go on a date with the young woman the night she was killed.
The “Dude, Where’s My Car?” actor arrived at 10:45 p.m. to pick up Ellerin and take her to a party, but she never answered the door, “48 Hours” reported.
Before he left, Kutcher reportedly told cops he peeked inside a window and saw what he thought was spilled wine on the floor, but it turned out to be blood.
Ellerin was found by her roommate early the next morning.
The actor may be called to testify in the trial, according to CBS Los Angeles.
Gargiulo’s first alleged victim is a 17-year-old Illinois girl found stabbed to death by her father. He is also accused of killing a young mother, 32-year-old Maria Bruno, who lived in the same apartment complex as him.
In 2008, Gargiulo attempted to stab a neighbor to death in Santa Monica, but she was able to escape.
