Big Blue are adding a little bit of orange to their minicamp.
The New York Giants added quarterback Eric Dungey as an undrafted free agent after a four-year tenure with Syracuse in which he threw for 9,340 yards, 58 touchdowns and 30 interceptions with a 61.5 completion percentage. As a senior, he led the Orange to their first 10-win season since 2001.
Dungey was a sought-after signing despite not getting picked at last week’s NFL draft, though Giants coach Pat Shurmur played a big role in bringing the young passer to New York.
“We were kind of all over the board probably until Tuesday late afternoon,” Dungey’s father Tim told Syracuse.com. “Shurmur called Eric, and they had a long conversation and he made Eric feel pretty good.”
He’ll join fellow rookie Daniel Jones at camp this week as the two quarterbacks begin their NFL paths. He will compete with Kyle Lauletta and Alex Tanney for a roster spot.
