Thanos has got nothing on measles.
A measles-afflicted California woman reportedly went to a midnight showing of “Avengers: Endgame” last week — potentially exposing her fellow theatergoers to the disease, officials said Wednesday.
The woman in her 20s had recently traveled to a country with an outbreak of measles, and didn’t know she was afflicted when she went to the showing, the Orange County Health Care agency said, according to NBC4.
She went to work for a few days — and then to the hit movie at the AMC Theater in Fullerton on April 25 — before realizing she was sick.
The patient is now under quarantine.
Other moviegoers may have been exposed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., the agency said.
Theater employees were shocked.
“The last place I would ever expect it was at my job. I wasn’t even expecting Orange County,” AMC Fullerton employee Carlee Greer-McNeill said. “People, if you know you have the measles, please don’t come to a movie theater, let alone a public place.”
This is the first measles case reported in Orange County this year. Los Angeles County announced it had six cases on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a public health emergency has been declared in New York over a massive outbreak.
