An accused Ponzi schemer who allegedly lunged at a federal prosecutor was released after spending just one night behind bars, according to new court papers.
Brooklyn federal Judge Brian Cogan revoked Mark Nordlicht’s $5 million bail and tossed him in jail Monday over his surly behavior last week.
But the jurist felt a short stay in federal custody sufficed.
“I think he’s learned his lesson,” Cogan said Tuesday, multiple sources told The Post.
Cogan reinstated Nordlicht’s bond and ordered him released from custody, according to a document filed that same day.
“We were shocked,” one of the sources said. “What was the point?”
The Platinum Partners hedge fund founder was caught on courthouse cameras allegedly trying to attack Assistant US Attorney Lauren Elbert during a break in his trial.
“You have no f—ing morals!” the alleged fraudster seethed in a hallway last Thursday, as his wife restrained him.
Nordlicht is on trial for allegedly running a pyramid-like scheme in which he defrauded investors by claiming Platinum Partners had $1.7 billion.
His lawyer, Jose Baez, has denied the charges, saying investors were well aware that they might not get their money back.
Asked to comment on Nordlicht’s stint in jail, Baez snapped, “I’m busy trying a case.”
