Sally Hershberger Hudson Yards Salon | 20 Hudson Yards
It’s no surprise that Hershberger’s newest salon, which opened in March, is right in the middle of NYC’s hottest new ’hood. After all, the rock-star stylist, who has precision-layered the locks of Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, is typically where the action is.
“Hudson Yards is curated luxury sprinkled with electric energy,” she tells Alexa. “We see this salon attracting mostly locals — modern, chic and cool types with a common thread of wanting Instagram-worthy hair.” HY offers Hershberger’s full range of signature services, including hairstyling, color, keratin, extensions, eyebrows, makeup applications and bridal. Prices for women’s cuts and color start at $150, while a session with Hershberger will cost you $800.
John Barrett Salon | 36 E. 57th St.
When John Barrett bowed out of his Bergdorf Goodman salon in April after more than 20 years, many saw it as the end of the “Bergdorf Blonde” era. But his new industrial-chic digs on East 57th Street mark the beginning of a new age. “Once I decided to move, I knew that creating an entirely new vibe was essential,” explains Barrett, who fashioned Hillary Clinton’s signature coif and charges $625 for a cut. In addition to the usual services (cuts start at $140), JBS does wedding do’s, nails and makeup. Also on the menu: a CBD pedicure (about $200) and the “Early Bird” blowout as early as 8:30 a.m. ($420 for six sessions).
Oscar Blandi Salon, Tribeca | 111 Murray St.
Making his original NYC debut with a salon at the iconic Plaza Hotel and currently operating a 53-chair salon on Madison Avenue, Oscar Blandi clearly thinks big. But for his new downtown location, opening next month, Blandi opted for cozy with just 10 chairs. The salon offers a full range of cut, color, nail and makeup services with cuts ranging from $90 to about $600 for a Blandi creation. “I wanted a modern twist on the romantic Italian boutique salon that would create a present and relaxed space that draws away from the digitized vibe we find ourselves in every day,” says Blandi, who has styled Jennifer Garner, Naomi Watts and Robin Wright. “A space where clients may put away their phones, find a quiet moment and spend time on themselves.”
The Salon Project by Joel Warren | Saks Fifth Avenue, 611 Fifth Ave., 7th floor
“Think Soho House-meets-Apple store-meets-beauty lounge,” says celeb colorist Joel Warren, describing his latest Salon Project. The high-tech space opens this month at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship and features a wet bar and lounge, a soundtrack curated by DJ Donna D’Cruz, a concierge and a digital check-in station. Clients can preview styles and hair colors on a virtual-reality program. Cuts start at $100, while color with Warren himself starts at $400. “You can have a facial, haircut, color, mani/pedi and finish with a makeup touch-up,” notes Warren, who co-founded Manhattan’s legendary Warren Tricomi salon in the ’90s and has worked with Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson. “It will be an amazing day.”
