Video reveals fire-ravaged interior of Harlem apartment
Shocking new video shows the fire-gutted remains of the Harlem apartment where a mother and five of her children perished Wednesday in an early morning blaze.
The footage, posted to Twitter by the FDNY Wednesday afternoon, reveals just how badly the conflagration tore through the fifth-floor apartment in the Frederick Samuel Houses on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard.
Scorched detritus litters the floors, while the walls are black and peeling from the heat.
The few pieces of large furniture that were not totally consumed in the inferno are charred almost beyond recognition.
Investigators believe the fire started around 1:40 a.m. after a resident left a lit cooking stove unattended, according to sources close to the investigation.
