Julian Edelman’s MVP-caliber year is getting even better.
On Saturday, the Patriots receiver graduated from Kent State University, in Ohio, 13 years after beginning his college education.
“I believe it is important to finish what you start. This Saturday, I will be walking with my fellow Kent State graduates. Completing what I started back in 06,” Edelman, 32, wrote Friday on Instagram.
“It is important to me that I make my parents proud as I fulfill a promise that I made to them that I would, one day, be a college graduate. I also want to set a great example for my daughter, so that when I talk about the importance of a college degree, I can show her that earning my degree was important to me. To my fellow Golden Flash graduates, Congratulations,” he continued.
Edelman, who was named this year’s Super Bowl MVP following the Patriots’ victory over the Rams, later posted a video of himself receiving his diploma, wearing his cap and gown.
“Kent State class of 2019… we did it! 🎓 #13YearSenior,” the wideout shared Saturday.
After walking the stage, Edelman received a flurry of well-wishes from famous friends, including quarterback Tom Brady.
“Who ever knew it could take 14 years to graduate college??” Brady quipped.
“Congrats Jules,” Erin Andrews shared.
“They were all graduating elementary when you started lol,” Jason and Devin McCourty joked.
Edelman was selected by the Patriots in the 2009 NFL Draft.
