Trump: Border Patrol catching record numbers of ‘bad hombres’

A day after announcing a new immigration plan, President Trump declared that Border Patrol is rounding up “record numbers” of “bad ‘hombres’” who will be registered and eventually kicked out of the US.

“The Democrats now realize that there is a National Emergency at the Border and that, if we work together, it can be immediately fixed. We need Democrat votes and all will be well!” the president said at the start of a tweetstorm on the subject.

“Border Patrol is apprehending record numbers of people at the Southern Border. The bad ‘hombres,’ of which there are many, are being detained & will be sent home. Those which we release under the ridiculous Catch & Telease (sic) loophole, are being registered and will be removed later!” he continued.

The president declared that everyone who enters the US illegally “will be removed from our Country at a later date as we build up our removal forces and as the laws are changed.”

“Please do not make yourselves too comfortable, you will be leaving soon!” he said, adding, “Will the Democrats give our Country a badly needed immigration win before the election? Good chance!”

Meanwhile, the president’s national emergency declaration to divert more than $6 billion to build a wall at the southern border will face its first test in court Friday, when states and advocacy groups plan to ask a federal judge to block the funding.

The hearing will address the question of Trump’s authority to build a wall using funds that Congress declined to approve for the amount he requested.

Earlier this year, Congress approved $1.375 billion for construction of “primary pedestrian fencing” along the border in Texas — well short of the president’s demand for $5.7 billion to build border walls in Arizona and New Mexico, as well as Texas.

To obtain the additional funds, Trump declared a national emergency and diverted $601 million from a Treasury forfeiture fund, $3.6 billion from military construction and $2.5 billion meant for Department of Defense counterdrug programs.

On Thursday, the president announced a sweeping immigration reform plan that would favor people with top educations and skills, and sharply limit those admitted at random or solely because they have family in the US.
