The US Golf Association is probing whether President Trump’s golf scores were hacked after someone posted abysmal numbers under his name on the association’s handicap-tracking system last week, GolfWeek magazine reports.
Scores of 101, 100, 108 and 102 were posted under the commander-in-chief’s name on the USGA’s handicap service Friday — but Trump was traveling from New York to DC those days and did not hit the links.
“We have become aware of reports in the media questioning recent scores posted on President Trump’s Gold Handicap and Information Network account,” said USGA spokesman Craig Annis.
“As we dug into the data it appears someone has erroneously posted a number of scores on behalf of the GHIN user,” Annis said. “We are taking corrective action to remove the scores and partnering with our allied golf associations, and their member clubs, to determine the origin of the issue.”
The courses tied to the bogus scores were Trump National New York, Trump International in West Palm Beach and Cochise Course at Desert Mountain in Arizona, according to the golfing mag.
Trump’s scores have recently been the subject of scrutiny after an outstanding round of 68 was posted Wednesday and then deleted.
Only one other score has been posted since he was elected, a 96 from last October, which has also been called into question, GolfWeek reported.
Trump has golfed more than 170 times since taking office, according to a website that tallies his publicly reported visits to the course.
