A suspected gang member was nabbed Thursday morning for beating an elderly man unconscious in a random attack behind a Bronx charter school, police and sources said.
Tyekeem Wright, 19, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. for attacking the 71-year-old behind South Bronx Classical Charter School III/IV on Third Avenue in Morrisania, cops said.
Wright — who lives next door to where the attack happened — repeatedly hit his victim in the face with an unknown object, police said. When the man collapsed to the ground, Wright continued pounding him until he lost consciousness, according to authorities.
Wright, who police sources said is a suspected Bloods gang member, was charged with assault and harassment and quickly retained a lawyer, cops said.
He boasts at least 10 previous arrests from 2016 to 2019, including for robbery, public lewdness, criminal possession of a weapon, grand larceny and resisting arrest, records show.
