Florida couple uses pet alligator to reveal 10th child’s gender
Welcome to a gender reveal party with a lot of bite.
Stacie Childs-Wright and husband Chad Wright let their pet alligator, Amos, show the world the sex of their unborn baby, which will be the couple’s 10th child.
A video from Tampa station Fox 13, courtesy of Childs-Wright, shows a barefoot Wright dangling a black balloon from a pole, urging the gator to puncture it with his jaws.
The provocation results in a quick chomp and a subsequent explosion of pink powder. While Amos — who has been a member of the family since 2000, per Fox 13 — seems unbothered, Wright appears to be disappointed that a little girl is on the way.
A tickled Childs-Wright exclaims “I told you!” to her husband, who, according to Fox 13, is a Florida Wildlife Control “nuisance wildlife trapper.”
Gender reveal parties don’t often feature deadly reptiles, but they’ve become ever more creative in the Instagram age.
Colored lasagnas, fire trucks spraying tinted water and “Game of Thrones”-inspired dragon eggs have all gotten the pink/blue treatment. In notably dramatic fashion, one North Carolina dad-to-be even jumped out of a plane to find out the sex of his unborn baby. (It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a girl!)
This isn’t the first time the Wrights’ menagerie has made headlines. In March of last year, the Wrights’ dog, a 9-year-old American pit bull terrier named Brisco, was shot 10 times by a drunk neighbor, Patch reported.
Luckily, the dog survived.
