Cops arrested a city schoolteacher for slamming a West Village middle school student to the ground during a fight, authorities said Friday.
Andrew Adler, 47, was busted Thursday on charges of assault, harassment, and acting in a manner injurious to a child for allegedly throwing the 12-year-old boy to the ground at MS 297 Tuesday, leaving the student with injuries to his elbow.
Adler had been breaking up a fight between the boy and another student at the time, police said.
The boy and his mother reported the alleged assault at the 6th Precinct stationhouse two days later, authorities said, where he declined medical attention for his swollen elbow.
Adler’s bio, which has since been removed from the school website, listed him as an integrated co-teaching specialist. He had been teaching there since September 2018, sources said.
“This alleged behavior is deeply disturbing, and Mr. Adler has been reassigned away from the classroom pending the outcome of the criminal matter,” Department of Education spokesman Doug Cohen said in a statement.
