Woman inspired by ‘Wedding Crashers’ tried to poison fiancé with eye drops: cops

A North Carolina mom inspired by the movie “Wedding Crashers” allegedly tried to poison her fiancé with eye drops in order to “incapacitate” him, officials said.

Jaymee Cruz, 31, faces charges after she tried to make her partner sick so she could take the couple’s 6-month-old daughter from their Salisbury home without his interference on Saturday, news station WBTV reported.

She told police that she watched the scene from “Wedding Crashers” the night before where Vince Vaughn encourages Owen Wilson’s character to spike Bradley Cooper’s drink with Visine.

Her fiancé called 911 when he caught her pouring eye drops into his Coke and exhibiting strange behavior, according to WBPTV.

“She said she wanted to talk to me, we’re talking … She says, ‘Does your stomach hurt?’ I said, ‘No, my stomach’s not bad, it’s been hurting a little bit,’” he told dispatchers. “Well, she comes walking back into my room. When I walk in there, she’s pouring stuff into my drink.”

He said when he asked Cruz what she was doing, she replied, “Oh, I’m trying to give you diarrhea.”

“She said, ‘I was trying to make you get diarrhea so I could incapacitate you,'” he said.

The fiancé later told police: “I want her out of my place. That’s not sane behavior.”

Police said they arrested Cruz on felony charges of distributing noxious or deleterious food.
