Rob Gronkowski retired from the NFL, but he’s apparently not done catching passes at Gillette Stadium.
The former Patriots tight end returned to his old stomping ground Friday night during a Luke Bryan concert and the crowd went wild upon seeing Gronkowski step on stage, according to MassLive.com, before Gronk caught a pass from the country music star.
Bryan, who was wearing a Patriots jersey, told the crowd there was “someone who wanted to come out and say hello” before Gronk emerged.
Gronkowski was “visibly moved” by the roars of the crowd, according to the report, and showed his appreciation to Bryan and the fans.
Bryan then grabbed a football and tried to complete a pass to Gronkowski on stage, but Bryan overthrew him and a fan ended up with the ball. The musician got the ball back and connected with Gronk on his second pass attempt.
“I can now say I completed a pass to Gronk in Gillette Stadium. How cool is that?” Bryan said.
Gronkowski, 30, retired in March after nine NFL seasons during which he was a part of three Super Bowl-winning teams and caught 79 regular-season touchdowns.
