Teen mows American flag onto yard in honor of fallen Army pal
A patriotic Texas teen honored his fallen soldier friend by mowing an image of the American flag into his front yard — just days before the Fourth of July, according to a new report.
Cameron James, 17, told local NBC affiliate KXAS that one of his friends was killed while on duty for the Army last week in Arizona.
As a tribute to his pal, he meticulously carved an image of Old Glory onto his family’s front lawn in Haslet Monday.
“Our mower has different settings, so I just changed the settings so the grass would be different lengths for the stripes,” James told the outlet.
He also made sure all 50 stars were included — using a weed eater to make them, he said.
In total, the grueling task took about four hours in the summer heat.
“It was a lot of work,” James told the station. “But it was worth it.”
