The Fourth of July presents a multitude of programming choices, whether it’s the new season of a continuing series, feature films, live sporting events or a beautifully photographed nature series. Here’s a guide to some small-screen treats.
“Stranger Things”

Season 2 ended with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) closing the “gate” to the Upside-Down dimension. Season 3 opens with scientists secretly conducting experiments on it. The spooky series welcomes Cary Elwes and Maya Thurman-Hawke to the cast.
Wimbledon: Second-round play
6 a.m.-11 a.m., ESPN
It’s Day 4 at the All-England Club in London. Expect stars such as Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal and Coco Gauff to approach the net.
“Rod, White & Blue: A Twilight Zone Celebration”
7 a.m. on Decades TV
A July 4th marathon of 42 episodes from Rod Serling’s ’60s-era sci-fi classic “The Twilight Zone,” starting at 7 a.m. and running through 7 a.m. Friday and accompanied by fun facts and trivia about the series. Favorites include “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet,” “The Masks,” “Living Doll,” “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” and “Time Enough at Last.” The original series aired from 1959-64 on CBS.
MLB Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates
4 p.m., ESPN
Chicago Cubs take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. From PNC Park.
“Planet Earth: Wild West”
5 p.m.-8 p.m., BBC America
Desert denizens such as mustangs and coyotes take center stage in this beautifully photographed nature series. The producers also cover the coastline of America’s Western states — where redwoods reign and whale watchers sail out to sea to in an effort to glimpse blue whales.
“Crazy Rich Asians”
5:55 p.m., HBO
In this hit film, Chinese-American Rachel (Constance Wu) travels to Singapore with her boyfriend Nick (Henry Golding) to attend his best friend’s wedding, only to discover he comes from one of Asia’s most wealthy, prominent families. She must stand up to his judgmental mother (Michelle Yeoh).
MLB Baseball: Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves
7 p.m., ESPN
“Planet Earth: Yellowstone”
8 p.m.-10 p.m., BBC America
A full season in America’s first national park is explored. As the snow melts in spring, grizzly bears teach their young how to hunt fish and when to move out through valleys and grasslands into summer forests and up into the peaks. When winter approaches, elk move down from the mountains to find food, and beavers repair dams before ice freezes their ponds.
“Beat Bobby Flay”
10 p.m., Food Network
Noah Cappe (“Carnival Eats”) teams up with Anne Burrell (“Worst Cooks in America”) to choose between LA’s acclaimed chef Mark Peel and Brooklyn’s Nick Williams. At the end of the night, all they want is for Bobby Flay to throw his arms up in defeat.
