This statue is a bust.
A life-sized wooden monument to first lady Melania Trump has been erected in her home town in Slovenia — but locals say the bizarre effigy is an insult to the famous former neighbor, according to a new reports.
The statue near the town of Sevnica — commissioned by American conceptual artist Brad Downey, and carved out of a tree with a chainsaw by local craftsman Ales Zupevc, according to AFP — depicts President Trump’s wife with crude facial features and a formless blue dress as she waves a stumpy hand.
It is supposed to be based on the former model’s appearance at her husband’s inauguration, where she wore a chic powder blue Ralph Lauren — but residents say it looks more like a character from “The Smurfs.”
“It doesn’t look anything like Melania. It’s a Smurfette. It’s a disgrace,” one resident fumed to ITV.
A local 24-year-old architecture student named Nika told AFP: “If the monument was meant to be a parody, then the artist has been successful.”
Downey told AFP he thinks it is “absolutely beautiful” but “can understand why people might think that this falls short as a description of her physical appearance.”
