Embrace the day!
“Boyfriend hug speakers” are the latest product from Japanese video game company Level-5 and one of its brands, Otome Yusha.
The speakers were produced in conjunction with the release of Hero of Maidens, a role-playing mobile game, per the AV Club and Sora News 24, is “targeted at women about beautiful men who intend to ‘save the world through love.’ ”
The cozy amplifiers, which connect to any music-playing device via Bluetooth, are also called “Hero of Maiden hugging speakers.”
A promotional video shows the speakers embedded into ripped biceps, which encircle the wearer’s neck in an intimate cuddle.
Floating above the arms is the face of Hero of Maidens’ protagonist imprinted on an orb-shaped cushion that looks like it’s peeking over the wearer’s shoulder.
Though only one speaker set was made to promote the game, a video shows a woman wearing the invention on the street, in a cafe — and even on a date. (Are the squeezing speakers a third wheel?)
Fans can enter to win the one-of-a-kind item until Aug. 9 by following Otome Yusha on Twitter and/or tweeting out the company’s official website with the hashtags #オトメ勇者 and #抱きしめスピーカープレゼント (#OtomeYusha and #HugSpeakersPresent).
If there’s demand, maybe the company will start manufacturing them for real.
