Our daily Giants practice report:
Something Good
Eli Manning was sharp, delivering accurate passes down the field. His most impressive throw was an on-target 30-yard strike to running back Saquon Barkley that beat double coverage.
Something Bad
Evan Engram was frequently wide open, which can be looked at in two ways. The Giants’ tight end is either a matchup nightmare or they don’t have anyone who can cover a tight end. Maybe it’s a little of both.
Caught my eye
A day after the first-team defense pushed the first-team offense around up front, the offensive line bounced back. Barkley had plenty of room to run, finding huge holes along the right side.
Keeping up with The Jones
Like Sunday, Daniel Jones didn’t get a lot of reps in team drills, strictly working with the second team. He completed 5 of 6 passes, many of them on rollouts to his right, including a fantastic catch by rookie Darius Slayton in which he reached back for a pass Jones threw behind him. The rookie did throw an interception on a deflection at the line of scrimmage that was picked off by linebacker B.J. Goodson.
Injury Report
CB DeAndre Baker (knee) returned to practice and took part in individual drills. Dalvin Tomlinson (personal reasons) was back. LB Tae Davis (illness) and S Michael Thomas (excused absence) didn’t practice. CB Sam Beal (hamstring), WR Golden Tate (concussion protocol) and CB Antonio Hamilton (groin) remained out. LB Alec Ogletree (calf) was still limited, while LS Zak DeOssie (toe) practiced fully.
