Maddy Freking compared to Mets’ Noah Syndergaard at LLWS

Maddy Freking is making a Thor-like impression at the Little League World Series.

During her Minnesota team’s game Sunday in Williamsport, Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle compared Freking, the 19th girl to play in the LLWS, to the Mets’ Noah Syndergaard.

“Skills. And with no disrespect, the last time I saw that much blonde hair throwing that hard it was Syndergaard,” Hurdle told ESPN. “That was bringing the heat.”

Taking the hill Sunday with one out in the bottom of the second and the bases loaded, Freking struck a batter out looking and then made an impressive barehanded play on a dribbler and flipped to the catcher at home plate for the final out of the inning.

“It’s been fun to watch her,” Hurdle said. “We’ve seen their team play multiple time and she’s always involved in some kind of action. So I’m sure everybody back where she’s from [is] proud of her, proud of the whole group.”

The Minnesota Midwest squad lost 11-0 to the Southeast team from Virginia and now faces elimination in its Monday matchup against the Southwest team from Louisiana.
