This alleged impostor is no ace.
A man posing as the brother of Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard racked up nearly $42,000 in fraudulent charges at an upscale Miami Beach hotel, police said.
Solomon Shlomo Azari, 24, told staffers at 1 Hotel South Beach he was related to the 25-year-old former Wimbledon finalist while piling up $41,946 in tabs at the hotel’s Habitat restaurant and downing drinks at its rooftop bar, WSVN reports, citing an arrest affidavit.
Azari allegedly told hotel employees during visits between May and July to put the charges on Bouchard’s personal account at the hotel, where she lives, according to the station.
Azari was arrested Sunday by Miami Beach police and had cocaine in his pocket when he was taken into custody, police said.
Azari, who has been released on bond on charges of possession of cocaine, organized scheme to defraud, identity fraud and grand theft, could not be reached for comment early Wednesday.
A spokesperson at the hotel was not immediately available to comment on the allegations, a receptionist told The Post.
Bouchard, currently ranked 119th in the world, has won more than $6.3 million since turning pro in 2009. The Montreal native became the first Canadian to play in a women’s Wimbledon final in 2014, but lost to Czech standout Petra Kvitova. She’s currently enduring a rough 2019 season, going 6-14 in singles play.
