Sacha Baron Cohen is super serious in ‘The Spy’ trailer

Very nice!

“Borat” star Sacha Baron Cohen is coming back to TV in September — in a totally serious role.

The funnyman, best known for characters such as Borat, Bruno and Ali G, will star in Netflix’s new thriller series called “The Spy” as an Israeli clerk who becomes a secret agent in Syria. Its trailer dropped Wednesday.

The show is from Israeli director Gideon Raff, who also created “Prisoners of War” — the inspiration for “Homeland.”

Baron Cohen has appeared in dramatic projects before, such as “Sweeney Todd” and “Les Miserables,” but even in those dark films he brought on the laughs.

“The Spy,” a limited series, will be available on Netflix Sept. 6.
