Yankees duo visit recovering David Oritz

David Ortiz had two Yankees as guests.

Edwin Encarnacion and Gary Sanchez both went to visit the Red Sox legend at his home during their day off in Boston on Thursday. It is unclear whether they went together. The Yankees begin a four-game series with the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Friday.

Ortiz, who is recovering after being shot in the Dominican Republic in June, posted a photo to his Instagram account of him sitting at a table with Encarnacion. He thanked the Yankees’ DH/first baseman for taking time to see him.

“My boy came to check up on his boy !!!” Ortiz wrote.

Sanchez, who like Ortiz and Encarnacion is a Dominican native, also added a photo to his Instagram of he and Oritz standing outside with their arms around each other.

“Honored, Mr. Ortiz,” Sanchez wrote with the photo. “Wishing you a long life so you can continue to help and inspire future generations. #HeIsBigPapi.”

The Yankees lead the defending-champion Red Sox by 16 ¹/₂ games in the AL East.
