Saweetie isn’t just sitting pretty at New York Fashion Week — she’s unveiling her first capsule collection with PrettyLittleThing on Sunday. She’s also slated to perform at the brand’s inaugural runway show, along with Ashanti and Lil’ Kim.
“The style is bougie streetwear,” said the “Icy Grl” rapper and singer, who rocked a Roberto Cavalli black evening gown at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons by Carine Roitfeld party at the Plaza. “It has some glamorous pieces in there, like dresses, and I’ve got every type of outfit for every type of vibe.”
The Icy Wifey, who was joined by her boyfriend, Migos rapper Quavo, told The Post that she kept the prices affordable. “From something low, like $40 or $50, all the way up to a couple hundred. I want my fans to be able to wear it!” she said.
Saweetie’s biggest fan will be cheering her on from the front row, but Quavo won’t be performing. “He’ll just be watching me look good,” said the bombshell.
The couple reportedly met last year on the set of his “Workin Me” music video, and have been dating ever since. Besotted Quavo gave her a $75,000 snowflake-shaped diamond necklace for Christmas, with a tender message engraved on the back.
She might have all the trappings of fame, but Saweetie knows the value of money. The 25-year-old, who graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in business and communications, hustled to get where she is. What does she think of the pay-to-play college admissions scandal, which involved wealthy parents allegedly dropping big money for their children’s acceptance at her alma mater and other schools?
“Girl, you know what? I understand parents will do whatever for their kids, but as somebody who worked her ass off and paid for some of my tuition, that’s not fair,” she said.
